What is the opportunity?
Are you interested in the opportunity to work as a Market Risk Analyst at RBC? The selected candidate will participate in and supports the creative and execution aspect of a new python-based Market Risk dashboard.
What will you do?
·Contributing to defined projects or tasks under direct supervision.
·Developing product or service knowledge and competence in tools and business processes used in the department.
·Help create a Github repository for Market Risk department, and build controls around it.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning
React.js, JavaScript, Node.js
Must be studying Computer Science or Engineering
Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment
Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast paced environment
Experience or understanding of open-source software frameworks (Hadoop), data visualization tools (Tableau and Splunk), and databases (SQL and/or VBA)
Experience developing user interfaces for web-based applications
Programming skills in one or more languages (ex. Python, R)
Ability to data extract, transform, and load processes with a variety of data types
Ability to perform complex data analysis on large volumes of data and present findings to stakeholders
Nice-to-have
Knowledge of design, development, and implementation utilizing current analytics technologies and architecture, as well as data warehouse concepts and methodologies
Tailwind CSS
Relational database concepts and design experience
Experience with open-source AI models (e.g., Llama, GPT)
Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge

Please note: This posting is for a 4-months Summer 2024 Student placement with a start date of May 2024, and end date of August 2024. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:
- Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of August 2024 ; or
- If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in August 2024), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
