.60 FTE TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT

PRIMARY / LEARNER SUPPORT

EFFECTIVE: April 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024

The successful candidate will:

Be able to develop and implement appropriate individualized educational plans for students with disabilities and diverse needs;

Trained in Level B assessment and testing;

Have experience and/or training at the primary levels and at leading a combined grade class;

Be trained and experienced in general and special education at the primary level;

Be able to adapt and modify curriculum and materials to enable students with disabilities and diverse needs to participate meaningfully in the regular classroom;

Be committed to work collaboratively with parents, teachers other resource personnel, and school-based teams;

Be able to work with students with a variety of behaviors and use positive approaches to support behaviour change;

Be committed to and practice the philosophy of inclusion;

Be knowledgeable of current research and instructional strategies related to inclusion of children with disabilities and diverse needs;

Have a commitment to the direction of the school as outlined in the School Growth Plan;

Embed the First Nations Principles of Learning in all subject areas;

Be knowledgeable of technological and other strategies to support students with specific disabilities;

Have knowledge and commitment to using current assessment strategies, including formative assessment;

Be familiar with the Response to Intervention (RTI) model;

Be committed to consultation, parent conferences, and positive home/school/community liaison;

Be committed to team teaching with classroom teachers and be able to communicate well in order to establish a consistent culture for learning.

Applicants should be aware that attendance at staff meetings, professional development activities and school-based team meetings is considered an integral element of assignments.

SALARY: The starting annual salary for full-time Elementary School position ranges from $60,891 to $106,838, with placement on the range based on length of services and qualification in accordance with the collective agreement. Additionally, $2,947 annually as a Remote & Rural Allowance.
