ELEMENTARY TEACHER- LEARNING SUPPORT SERVICES TEMPORARY- FULL TIME OR PART TIMESEPTEMBER TO JUNE 30, 2023 The Burnaby School District is on the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Nations of Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish. These positions are effective immediately to June 30, 2024. Required TEACHER Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or academic equivalent in an appropriate field of study; Relevant methodology courses Valid BC Teaching Certificate Knowledge of a broad range of effective instructional strategies in order to meet the diverse needs of all students; Knowledge of consultative and collaborative strategies; and Recent, successful, substantive teaching or practicum experience in the relevant grade levelRequired LEARNING SUPPORT SERVICES Qualifications: A Bachelor of Education degree or academic equivalent A Master of Special Education or completion of Diploma in Special Education (consideration given to those who have completed a minimum of 15 credits out of the required 30 credits for Special Education Diploma) Two years successful teaching experience in a regular program Courses designed to meet the diverse needs of exceptional learners equal to a minimum of 30 credits in the following areas: differentiated instruction, teaching children and youth with a variety of special needs, assessment/testing theory and practice (which includes Level B testing), strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum, teaching students with special needs in Inclusive settings, learning disabilities, giftedness, assistive technology or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Functional Behavioural Assessment and Positive Behaviour Support and Universal Design For Learning (UDL) Demonstrated fluency and facility (both oral and written) in English and French if working in the French Immersion program Successful teaching experience at the elementary or secondary levelApplication Details :If you have the following qualifications, and are an advocate for public education, we welcome your application, please provide: cover letter, resume, a copy of your BC Teachers’ Certificate, a copy of your transcripts, a copy of your final practicum report, and a statement of your philosophy to makeafuture.ca or applications@burnabyschools.ca.
