The Position
Title: Accountant
Location: Montreal - Downtown
Type: Permanent - Full Time
Pembroke Management is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our esteemed wealth management firm. As an accountant, you will be an integral part of our finance team, responsible for providing accurate financial data and support to ensure smooth operations and exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Assist in maintaining and reconciling financial records for clients, including investment portfolios.
- Handle basic bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, recording transactions, and reconciling cash and positions for Funds and institutional accounts.
- Collaborate with senior members of the team to prepare and review financial reports
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and regulatory filings for our funds, ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
- Assist in coordinating audits and financial reviews, providing necessary documentation and answering auditor queries.
- Prepare monthly reports and quarterly invoices for various clients.
- Oversee the outsourcing of certain tasks and ensure proper reconciliation with our internal records.
- Offer support and act as a back-up to our back-office Operations team.
- Report to the Director of Finance
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will possess the following attributes, skills, and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a strong working knowledge of Sage AccPac, Salesforce, SAP Concur, and/or SS&C Global Wealth Platform (GWP). Familiarity with these platforms will be viewed as a significant asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to integrate quickly and contribute effectively to our team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in both English and French, to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial information.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset to take on new challenges and continuously improve.
- Experience working in the finance or investment industry is a plus.
