The Role:
We are looking for a driven and ambitious entry-level Accountant to join our Finance team as the Company enters its next phase of growth. This is an opportunity to join a well-funded, high-growth Series B scale-up, which means the successful applicant will have a direct impact in shaping the future of both the Company and its Finance & Operations function.
Reporting to: VP, Finance & Operations
Location: Toronto, ON (Remote)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform the month-end close process, including monthly reconciliations, on an accurate and timely basis
- Ensure the general ledger accounts are materially correct and investigate differences regularly
- Take ownership of full cycle accounting operations including banking, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, payroll, government remittances, intercompany transactions, billing, and expenses
- Prepare payroll for processing and payroll reconciliations
- Assist team in analyzing monthly financial results and provide commentary on variances
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly/annual reports for investors
- Help improve the accounting function by streamlining day-to-day processes and adding automation where possible
- Work cross-functionally to ensure underlying data used to develop budgets and determine company performance is clean and accurate
- Work on ad-hoc projects as they arise and coordinate with departments to complete various tasks
- Prepare GST/HST filings, remittances, and reconciliations
- Communicate regularly with our customers, vendors, government agencies and other team members
- Support external accountants and tax accountants to complete the annual compilation, eventual review or audit engagement of financial statements, and income tax returns
- Create, maintain, and organize financial documentation and records

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting (pursuing CPA is a plus)
- 0-2 years of professional accounting experience in a similar role
- A positive attitude and alignment with our four core values
- Experience in assurance is a plus
- Strong technical understanding and application of IFRS a plus

- Strong financial acumen and analytical skills

- Self-starter with proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Advanced working knowledge of Quickbooks Online, Microsoft Excel and GSuite
