We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in a boutique financial consulting and accounting firm located in the Bay Area. This is a part-time leading to full-time position. You will work under the guidance of an experienced financial consultant, controller, and CPA with 30 years of expertise, who will offer excellent mentorship and coaching to enhance your professional development.
As the Accountant you'll be tasked with various accounting responsibilities, such as overseeing and managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, ensuring financial reporting accuracy, and local tax compliance, for multiple clients. Your job scope will also cover learning about business operations, GAAP accounting, month-end close procedures, Excel proficiency, and compliance regulations. To succeed in this role, you must have a solid grasp of accounting principles, excellent communication abilities, and be capable of handling sensitive information with confidentiality.
Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Manage multiple client accounts
- Process accounts payable and receivable invoices
- Prepare financial statements and reports
- Perform basic accounting functions
- Analyze financial records and correct inaccuracies and errors
- Reconcile all reports and validate bank accounts
- Maintain ledger accounts
- Answer client queries and maintain a positive relationship with clients
- Adhere to all accounting rules and regulations
- Assist with payroll and compliance audits
- Assist with local tax compliance requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4+ years experience working as an Accountant
- Preference for CPA or CMA Certification
- An understanding of state and federal tax laws and regulations
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and make sound decisions
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent numerical and arithmetic skills
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel and GSuite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with start-ups (valued)
- Availability to work during normal office hours in PST Time Zone.
