In a phase of exciting growth we are looking to enrich our credit team with an Accounts Receivable / Collections Specialist. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a passion for financial accuracy and efficiency.
This is a full-time, permanent role, based in our head office in Lower Sackville, NS, you will report to the Credit Manager and be a key player in the credit department. This is an intermediate to senior level position with room for growth and training. The main focus will be managing customer credit accounts and direct follow-up with customers on their account and account status. This position requires a professional who can combine excellent communication skills with a precise, analytical approach to financial and collections management.
What will you be responsible for?
- Oversee and assist in the management of Accounts Receivable, including monitoring of outstanding balances and ensuring timely collections.
- Keep accurate records of customer interactions, track and follow-up accordingly.
- Assist with regular customer account maintenance including system settings.
- Work with sales and customer service teams to address billing disputes and discrepancies.
- Regularly report to management on the status of accounts and collection activities.
- Engage with clients to facilitate prompt payment of invoices, utilizing reminders, and negotiating payment plans as needed.
- Conduct reconciliation of customer accounts and application of payments.
- Familiar with interpreting and processing credit reports, and granting credit to customers.
- Other duties as required.
What are we looking for?
Qualifications
- Business certificate and/or training in Accounts Receivable/collections.
- 3-5 years’ experience in similar role described above.
Skills
- Great time management, analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Strong financial and business acumen matched with an ability to effectively communicate.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently but collaboratively.
- Desire to continuously improve and adapt to a changing environment.
- Excellent communication, active listening, and follow-up skills.
