Job Summary

The Water Management Branch (WMB) provides leadership, operational policy support and oversight for regional and headquarters water programs, co-ordination with regional and other agencies on water issues, specialized expertise in water licensing, and delivery of specific lines of business including flood hazard management, dam safety, river flow forecasting, drought management, emergency response, water utility regulation, and water use planning. The River Forecast Centre (RFC) monitors, analyzes and models the stream flow conditions throughout the province by using a variety of scientific, methodologies, techniques, models and specialized expertise. The Flood Safety Program provides strategic direction for the provincial flood safety policy and programs and coordinates and leads program delivery by regional flood safety staff.
Reporting to the Manager, Flood Policy, the Policy Project Management Analyst is responsible for managing large scale initiatives, including the BC Flood Strategy and Transboundary Nooksack River Initiative, among others. These initiatives have significant external impact, involve a range of internal and external stakeholders, and require significant assigned resources.
The Policy Project Management Analyst will manage and support large scale projects with significant external impact, a range of internal and external stakeholders and significant assigned resources. This position will be accountable for defining and controlling all project activities to ensure delivery of initiatives are within scope, schedule, budget, and specified quality.
Job Requirements:
  • Degree in natural resource management, science, public administration, planning, social studies or economics, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience with engagement planning and coordination
  • Experience independently managing projects.
  • Experience in directing the work of contracted and staff resources.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
  • Experience working with First Nations communities and facilitating First Nations consultations or engagement.
  • Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.
  • Experience in managing projects that involve First Nations partnerships or stakeholder engagement.
  • Project management coordination or related experience.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
This is a temporary opportunity until July 31, 2024. Apermanent appointment may result from this temporary appointment.
