Job description

St. Isidore Co-op is hiring an Agronomist to join our team in St. Isidore, AB.

If you are looking to grow your career in Agriculture and have a “people-first” attitude, we invite you to apply for this position!

As a co-operative, we do business differently. We believe in working together to serve Western Canadians, delivering profits back to our communities and investing in sustainable growth. Our work is guided by our values of integrity, excellence and responsibility and driven by our vision of building sustainable communities together. To learn more about who we are, visit www.stisidoreco-op.crs.

What you’ll do:

As the Agronomist, you will be the face of St. Isidore Co-op within the communities we serve, delivering world-class customer service and overseeing the operation of the Agro Department. You will:

  • Build and maintain relationships with current and future customers and promote the Co-op’s services and products.
  • Make recommendations on products, services, and programs to meet and exceed customer needs. This will involve field scouting, plot tours, and providing the most recent information available on seed, weed, disease, and insect control. This will also involve investigating potential challenges and offering solutions.
  • Be proactively involved in the business decision-making process of key customers.
  • Provide learning opportunities to customers that will provide value-added tools and resources to their business.
  • Stay up to date on current and future agricultural trends.
  • Create and implement strategies for growth opportunities.
  • Assist with inventory management, ensuring inventory is in place to match demand.

Who you’ll work with:

The Team: You will report to the Agro Manager and together you will provide our communities and customers with the best service and products.

The Community: Immersed in Agriculture and outdoor living, St. Isidore is a small community with a population of approximately 250 residents. The town of St. Isidore is just a short drive to Peace River, where you will find all of your essential amenities, including multiple schools, shopping, and entertainment. St. Isidore is a French community; however, both French and English are spoken throughout. The community boasts walking/bike paths, an outdoor skating rink, a community hall as well as a senior center.

Why it matters:

Unlike traditional businesses, we're owned by our members—the same people who use our products and services. When we are profitable, our member-owners and their communities benefit. This unique business model sets us apart and makes us truly different.

Working at Co-op gives you the opportunity to do work that truly matters. Our commitment to our members and the community means we strive to make a positive impact every day. We believe that our success should be shared, and we work hard to create value for our communities.

Who you are:

You are passionate about Agriculture and making a difference in the community and you:

  • Have a degree or diploma in Agriculture.
  • Have your Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) designation or are willing to pursue the designation. Assistance will be provided to pursue designation.
  • Have 1-3 years of industry-related experience.
  • You are honest, trustworthy, results-oriented, and strive to be the best in what you do.
  • You believe in collaboration, building relationships, and value the perspectives of others.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary, including eligibility to participate in St. Isidore Co-op’s bonus program
  • Extended Health Care, Dental, Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance
  • Employer Matched Pension Plan
  • Opportunities for career growth and development, including assistance with continued education
  • Opportunity for relocation assistance for the right candidate

If you are interested in joining our team, please apply directly at www.fcl.crs/careers.

We thank all candidates for their interest, however, only those selected to continue in the recruitment process will be contacted.

The Co-operative Retailing System embraces diversity and inclusion. We’re working to create a workforce that is as diverse as the communities we serve and an environment where every team member brings their whole self to work. We believe all candidates should feel at home with us and be given the opportunity to fully participate during the recruitment process. FCLHP
