LIFESAVING SOCIETY NOVA SCOTIA
Job Opportunity - Aquatic Program Specialist

Today, you are meeting with a rural affiliate to help set up swim lessons in a small community. Tomorrow, you are teaching a class full of future aquatics leaders of Nova Scotia. As the Aquatic Program Specialist, you provide Lifesaving Society program expertise for all Nova Scotians. You communicate regularly with the affiliates and members of the Lifesaving Society. You actively seek out opportunities so that education, lifeguarding and lifesaving training for Nova Scotians and affiliates will occur, which will prevent drowning and water-related incidents for all Canadians. Time Commitment & Working Conditions

  • Full Time - Permanent Position;
  • 35 hours per week;
  • Work may occasionally involve flexible hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Being a positive ambassador for the Society;
  • Provides subject matter expertise on Lifesaving Programs, awards, certifications and policies
  • Assists affiliates with leadership enquiries
  • Coordinates all Swim for Life enquiries, update clinics and program transfers
  • Ensures leadership training is made available province-wide; coordinates delivery of Instructor Trainer and National Lifeguard Instructor training as required
  • Increases the number of participants in Lifesaving Programs
  • Identifies training and development needs as well as the process for designing or establishing new programs or material to meet requirements
  • Organize outreach programs
  • Coordinates other direct delivery initiatives as required
  • Takes responsibility for own career development
  • Assists with special events as requested

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Excellent English language communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Hold Lifesaving Society Instructor certifications;
  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly to change in a dynamic workplace;
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented;
  • Criminal Record and Child Abuse/Vulnerable Persons Registry checks.

Asset Qualifications & Skills

  • Hold Lifesaving Society Trainer certification;
  • Post-secondary education or specialized skills training;
  • Previous experience working with diverse cultures and groups;

Wages & Benefits

  • Annual salary of between $48,000 and $55,000, plus benefits;
