Our client, one of Western Canada's leading window and door manufacturers, is looking for an Assistant Accounting Manager to join their team in Edmonton. The Assistant Accounting Manager collaborates closely with the Accounting Manager to supervise the company's financial operations and reporting. This position entails aiding in the management of the accounting team, ensuring precision and adherence to regulatory standards, and offering financial analysis and advice to the management.

- Assist in financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning, including evaluating investment opportunities, cost-saving initiatives, and revenue-generating activities.
- Perform full-cycle accounting, overseeing all general accounting operations & prepare government remittances (GST/PST), payroll, and corporate tax according to statutory deadlines.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting reports.
- Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor variances between actual results and budgets, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with accounting standards (ASPE), procedures, and internal controls.
- Lead special projects and provide recommendations to improve accounting practices. Establish priorities, initiate new ideas, and concepts to address problems and improve efficiency.
- Prepare and coordinate fiscal year-end audit working papers for the company. Serve as a liaison to external auditors.
- Lead, Coach and Mentor direct reports, ensuring smooth operations of the accounting department and maintaining synergistic relationships with all other departments.
- 5+ years experience as a General Accountant & 2+ year experience as supervisory role.
- Experience using Financial Software, Sage Systems, MS Suite.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in business or a finance-related discipline
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or in progress is an asset.
