Here’s the job opportunity…

This exciting role in Finance will provide leadership with respect to the Company’s finance systems and adhoc finance projects, including accounting policy related projects.

In this newly created role this leader will work with finance leaders across the CFO and Corporate systems areas to manage systems implemented to support accurate and timely financial reporting, and to identify and implement process and automation improvement opportunities.

This leader will provide the technical support for accounting policy analysis and decisions.

In addition, the leader will participate and/or lead projects as may be needed to advance ivari toward its strategic goals, like finance transformation and our business partner transformation project.

As an Assistant Vice President, Finance Projects and Finance Systems, you will …

  • Provide leadership to the Finance area with respect to finance systems, e.g., Risk Integrity (RI)and JDE our General Ledger system, with accountability for interactions with other systems and for change management as well as process improvement
  • Manage the relationship with our external provider as it relates to Risk Integrity (RI), including overseeing the RI upgrade process
  • Maintain process and system functionality Gap Logs (defects, manual workarounds, and potential future improvements)
  • Oversee our proprietary system, its integration with Risk Integrity (RI) or other business driven changes and productivity improvements
  • Research, prepare necessary supporting documentation and make a recommendation regarding the appropriate accounting choice or decision on issues as they arise
  • Identify and prioritize the opportunities for change and process improvement and lead all change efforts identified.

What we are looking for…

  • Graduate of an accredited university with Finance, Accounting and Systems specialties
  • Must hold a professional Canadian accounting designation, with a systems accreditation / experience
  • 10-15 years’ finance area / systems experience, with not less than 5 years in a leadership role
  • Insurance related experience is necessary. Breadth of exposure to different environments and roles would be an asset

The incumbent will require the following experience to be effective in the role:

  • Execution of large process improvement / change projects
  • Leadership in finance for a life insurance company
  • Leadership in systems for a life insurance company
  • Team leadership in a highly efficient and disciplined financial close environment
  • Implementation or re-engineering of finance / reporting systems
  • A sound understanding of the tools, processes and infrastructure that underlay the user facing finance applications
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex systems and data challenges

The incumbent would benefit from experience related to:

  • LEAN, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies
  • Consulting or 3rd party service delivery to finance teams
  • Change leadership practices
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
