Bakers Assistant

At MunChi Food...

we don't imitate German Food we make it. From scratch with love after German family recipes out of a commissary kitchen in Port Moody, right by the skytrain & rocky point park.

Mostly we make pretzels which would be the main thing to do. This includes weighing ingredients, mixing the dough, portioning the dough, rolling/making pretzels, freezing them, packaging them for freezer storage.

Other than pretzels, the tasks to do will be (but not limited to) sheetcakes, general food prep, simple soups & salads, packaging of various foods etc

The hours are 100% flexible for this job. Pretzels can be made at night, during the day or evening.

```General Duties:```
- Prepare a variety of baked goods, including pretzels, pastries, cakes, and cookies & more
- Follow recipes and measurements accurately to ensure consistent quality
- Operate baking equipment such as mixers, ovens, and dough sheeters
- Monitor baking process and adjust temperatures or cooking times as needed
- Decorate and present baked goods in an appealing manner
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Package finished products for display or sale

```Requirements:```

-Food Safe (if you don't have it when you apply that's ok, will have to get it ASAP though)

- Must be able to lift 20kgs flour bags

- valid work permit for a minimum of 6 months, or shorter if planning on extending the work permit

- not ideal for people who look for short term work

- Ideally somewhat familiar with German / European cuisine / flavours
- Proven experience as a baker or in a similar role preferred, but not necessary if there's a passion for cooking / baking / food
- Knowledge of baking techniques and principles
- Familiarity with different types of flours, sugars, and other ingredients
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently produce high-quality baked goods
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely production of baked goods
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and take customer orders

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $19.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week

• Making pretzels is repetitive work and I would like to train the right person over a period of a couple of weeks. It will take some determination to get the pretzel making down and requires willingness to learn the pretzel "flip". Will you be ok doing the same thing over and over before other types of work gets added to your task list?
