Job Summary

The Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation (MIRR) guides the Province in its commitments to establish true, lasting reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples in British Columbia. MIRR works collaboratively and respectfully with Indigenous Peoples to guide the implementation of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (Declaration Act), which establishes the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as the Province's framework for reconciliation, and advances actions that address Indigenous-specific racism and establishes new foundations of government that respect and uphold the human rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Job Requirements:
• Master's degree in law, public administration or a resource development and management field or other related disciplines AND at least three (3) years of *related experience OR
• Bachelor's degree in law, public administration or a resource development and management field or other related disciplines AND at least five (5) years of *related experience; OR,
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
* Related experience must include all the following:
• Recent (obtained within the last 5 years) experience leading complex, multi-party negotiations with First Nations and/or the federal government; or comparable recent negotiation experience leading bi-lateral, tripartite, and multi-party negotiations in matters of similar profile and significance.
• Recent (obtained within the last 5 years) experience leading a team of professionals in a supervisory capacity.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in conflict resolution.
• Experience leading, planning, coordinating, and managing complex projects and work assignments.
• Experience in strategic planning, goal setting, resource allocation and developing performance measurement.
• Experience related to economic agreements, fiscal arrangements and/or cost-sharing.
• Experience with program management techniques and practices.
• Experience working in highly dynamic environments, with a strong understanding of organizational transformation and change leadership practices.
Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
• Experience working for a variety of provincial agencies and different regions of the Province.
• Master's degree in law, public administration or a resource development and management field or other related disciplines.
• Policy experience, experience working with central agencies and multiple external partners, and presenting decision information to Ministers and/or Cabinet committees.
• Experience providing strategic advice to Minister, Deputy Ministers, ADMs, senior government officials (or private sector equivalent) on project/negotiation status.
Provisos
• A valid BC driver's license in good standing.
• Willing and able to travel extensively, often for several days at a time to remote areas of the Province.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation offices: Victoria, Nanaimo, Surrey.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
This position is excluded from union membership.
