Job Title: Barista

Reports to: All Bloom Baristas report to the Food & Beverage Manager (FBM) or, in the FBM’s absence, Head Chef, Cafe Supervisor

Supervises: N/A.

Position Type: Part-time, seasonal.

Job Overview:

As the cornerstone of our team at Bloom Café, the Barista plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service to our patrons. With a focus on ensuring every customer enjoys a delightful dining experience, the Barista is responsible for various tasks, including but not limited to preparing the dining area, clearing tables, crafting delicious beverages, and assisting with order-taking. Upholding our commitment to excellence, the Barista diligently follows established best practices to maintain a consistent standard of service that reflects the essence of Bloom Café..

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialty drinks, in accordance with Bloom Café's recipes and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area, ensuring tables are promptly bussed and reset for incoming customers.
  • Greet customers warmly, take orders accurately, and handle transactions efficiently using the point-of-sale system.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during peak hours, prioritizing tasks to meet customer needs promptly.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to uphold the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the café.
  • Continuously strive to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills to provide personalized recommendations and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in stocking inventory, monitoring supplies, and notifying management of any replenishment needs to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, professionalism, and a strong work ethic while representing Bloom Café's brand values.
  • Performing shift duties open and close SOPs, Side duties, and end of shift cash outs;
  • Inform customers about the day’s specials;
  • Offer menu recommendations upon request;Up-sell additional products when appropriate;
  • Follow all steps of service in best practices documentation beyond those described in this job description.

Qualifications:

Technical Skills

  • Previous experience in a customer service-oriented role, preferably in a café or hospitality environment.
  • Proficiency in preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold beverages, including espresso-based drinks, preferred but not required (training will be provided).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse customers and team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities to maintain cleanliness and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
  • A passion for coffee and commitment to delivering exceptional service that exceeds customer expectations.
  • Excellent people skills with a friendly attitude
  • Hands-on experience in cashier duties.
  • Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
  • Attention to cleanliness and safety
  • Responsible and trustworthy
  • High school diploma is a plus but not required
  • Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 8 weeks

Salary: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
