SalaryThere is a permanent full-time (1.0 FTE) Basic Custodian position available immediately at Howick Central Public School.
The Basic Custodian duties may include:
Building Cleaning
- operate and maintain all equipment
- perform all minor and major cleaning as outlined in cleaning checklists and Standard Operating Procedures
Building Maintenance
- change lights
- shovel snow
- operate snow blower
- clean and inspect roof
- operate grass-cutting equipment
- perform minor repairs
- conduct health and safety checks
The ideal candidate should possess:
- grade 12 diploma
- the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in 1 or more of the trade disciplines eg. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
- exemplary interpersonal, professional, and organizational skills;
- the ability to use a computer eg. GAFE;
- experience in handling machinery ie. buffing machines, lawn mowers, and snowblowers;
- knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies; and,
- satisfactory attendance will be a consideration when awarding this position
- Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, 12 months per year (shift work is included)
Rate of Pay: $23.20 -$23.66 per hour in accordance with the Basic Custodian grid, UNIFOR Collective Agreement.
