Join the People and Culture Team in the Bilingual Specialist, Employee Relations position. In this role, you will provide expert advice, coaching and guidance to employees, people leaders and HR Business Partners to resolve human relations and work-related situations. You will plan, develop, implement and advise on Employee Relations policies, programs and services, as well as ensure compliance with CMHC's Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. You will also promote and ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees and a productive work environment, consistent with CMHC values.
What you will do:
- You will ensure compliance with legislative requirements on all existing and new Human Resources and Employee Relations policies and programs.
- You will research, advise, analyze and coach people leaders, HR colleagues and employees regarding resolution of complaints and/or grievances and the implementation of appropriate corrective action, acting as a facilitator or mediator in discussions designed to address interpersonal or work-related conflicts.
- You will act as subject matter expert and point of escalation on complex human resources management and Employee Relations issues.
- You will develop and deliver communications, training and educational materials and sessions to ensure all staff and people leaders are aware of appropriate Employee Relations issues, programs, policies and services.
- You will conduct fact finding and/or investigations into events surrounding work place issues or complaints, as well as prepare reports of findings and recommend remedial actions.
- You will receive and process notices of occurrences of workplace harassment and violence or other misconduct.
- You will research, analyze and prepare comprehensive analyses, briefings and/or responses to complaints filed with the Canadian Human Rights Commission, unions (i.e., grievances) .
- You will support the collective bargaining process and negotiations, including the implementation of new collective agreements.
What you should have:
- An undergraduate degree, preferably in human resources management, business administration, industrial relations or other related fields.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience with a broad knowledge and understanding of human resources management and Employee Relations policies, practices, theories, concepts and systems.
- A working knowledge and understanding of federal employment law and regulations, relevant legislative issues, industry trends and practices.
- Excellent consulting and interpersonal skills including strong negotiation, influencing and coaching skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated advanced written and oral communication skills in both official languages (French and English), with the ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly in a variety of settings and in a way that is adapted to the audience.
- A demonstrated ability to work in an automated environment, with particular emphasis on MS Suite and case management systems.
- Experience in facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution.
