We are looking for a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for the day-to-day financial activity at the Lakes Golf Club & Resort. Financial activities will include preparation of monthly financial statements for all divisions including golf, food and beverage, accommodations and special events. As a multi service operation, successful candidates for this position will require effective time management skills, the ability to meet deadlines as well as work in a fast pace environment. As an integral part of the organization’s management team, this position will require the ability to work independently as well as collaborate as part of a unit. Reporting to the General Manager, the ideal candidate will have experience in general bookkeeping, intercompany accounting, account reconciliation, HST and other government filings and QuickBooks.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain records of financial transactions; posting transactions
- Balance daily transactions for multiple companies
- Help to define bookkeeping policies, procedures and best practices.
- Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
- Balances subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
- Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
- Balance general ledger by preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
- Maintains historical records by filing documents.
- Monitor and maintain AP and AR records
- Reconcile intercompany accounts
- Process payroll submissions
- Prepares monthly financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Assisting with the year-end financial audit
- Prepare HST and municipal tax/levy filings
- Complies with federal, provincial, and local legal requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising management on needed actions.
- Cash handling as required; balancing floats, deposits and gratuities
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Post Secondary in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA is a plus
- Previous bookkeeping and administration experience required
- Experience in working with multiple companies under one umbrella
- Experience working in the golf industry, hospitality or food & beverage sectors will be considered an asset
