HOURS: 32 – 44 Hours / Week
EXPECTED START DATE: ASAP
SHIFT TYPE: Applicants must be available weekends, mornings, days, and evenings.
DESCRIPTION:
de la terre bakery is located outside of downtown St. Catharines, ON and is seeking a Bread Production Associate to be part of our production team. The Bread Production associate position is a permanent, full- time position. Applicants must have a flexible schedule with availability in the morning, daytime, or evenings, both during the week and on weekends, and must have previous bakery or other industry related experience. Applicants must be comfortable and confident working both independently and in a team environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Skillfully proofing, cutting, scoring, and baking all varieties of sourdough. All our bread items are sourdough, including our bagels, buns, ciabatta buns, and focaccias.
- Packing and slicing fresh baked bread for wholesale accounts, farmers markets, home delivery orders, and pick up orders as needed.
- Staying organized and focused during the bake to ensure quality standards are met.
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment as well as being knowledgeable in proper food handling, storage, and labeling. Daily cleaning throughout and at the end of the shift is mandatory.
- Working independently in a fast-paced environment
- Accurately scaling ingredients and mixing various sourdoughs in accordance with de la terre recipes and procedures
- Folding and shaping various sourdoughs throughout the day, as needed
- Assisting the bread shaping team in dividing and shaping fermented doughs throughout the day, as needed
- Prepping and mixing various sourdough starters and soakers based off daily production numbers.
- Working both independently and in a team environment throughout the day. Applicants must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and time sensitive environment.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
* Must have experience working in a bakery, restaurant, or other food service setting. Minimum 1 year.
* Knowledge and experience working with sourdoughs, sourdough starters, preferments, and soakers is required.
* Education or training in kitchen management and/or culinary arts at a recognized educational institute is an asset.
* Excellent time management and organizational skills are required. Must be comfortable and confident working under pressure and multi-tasking. Dough waits for no one.
* Proper food handling and cleaning is required; a Food Handlers certificate is an asset.

Salary: $16.50 - $17.50
