Schedule: 40 hours/week
Salary: $25.20 to $31.34 per hour (compensation also includes a comprehensive benefits package (including extended health and dental, life insurance, health care spending account), participation in the OMERS pension plan, competitive vacation and sick leave, summer hours, and maternity/parental leave top-up)
Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) serves approximately 15,400 students each day at 39 in-person schools (32 elementary, two K-12; four 7-12, one secondary). Supporting student achievement is the goal of approximately 1,750 teaching and support staff who, in addition to the contributions of caring volunteers and community partners, share their passion for teaching and learning.

Responsibilities: Perform job duties as assigned by the supervisor such as repairing or replacing building controls equipment (such as scheduling equipment, electrical and electronic heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment) and security/fire alarm systems and components. Create and modify control system and computer logic sequences to ensure efficient equipment operation. Direct Board maintenance staff and outside contractors as necessary. .
Qualifications: The successful applicant must possess a secondary school diploma plus two years concentrated study in courses or equivalent such as controls computer, plumbing, electrical/electronic and mechanical, plus registered fire Alarm Technician certificate. Over three years’ experience and on the job training to become familiar with a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment. Ability to exercise use of judgment, decision-making skills, problem solving skills, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with frequent changes as required. Must possess a valid driving license and have access to a reliable vehicle for travel to various sites within in the Board’s jurisdiction as required.
