Crosslinx Transit Solutions Maintenance (CTSM) is currently seeking a Fire Alarm Technician (Facility Maintenance Technician) who will play a significant role as a member of our Maintenance team. The Fire Alarm Technician will act as a Building Operator, with a focus on Fire Alarm expertise and related work. This is a long-term career opportunity in an exciting growing industry.
The incumbent will be responsible to assist with the operation, preventative/corrective maintenance, service calls, emergency response, troubleshooting and repair of facility equipment and systems on the 24/7 maintenance operation of the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Line (ECLRT) in Toronto, Ontario. The incumbent must be willing to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Fire Alarms systems.
- Inspect, troubleshoot and service Fire Alarms complying with and meeting all applicable standards, legislation, Codes and Regulations, such as the Ontario Fire Code, National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), the Electrical Safety Authority, etc.
- Read and interpret specifications and drawings for Fire Alarm systems, and Fire Alarm code specifications to determine wiring layout for existing installations.
- Maintain equipment which includes cleaning, inspecting, calibrating and changing parts to maintain the ECLRT system and associated equipment at optimum performance levels.
- Respond and attend to facility-related service and emergency calls during their shift.
- Perform escort requirements of all contractors and monitor their work. Ensure contractors follow safety rules and security procedures.
- Assist other trades and the other Facility Maintenance Technicians in the performance of their general and preventative maintenance and repair duties.
- Comply with safety policies and legislation to ensure the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials, and maintain a clean and safe workplace.
- Process and submit Work Orders, and work with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Qualifications:
- Must have three (2) or more years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician, performing Fire Alarm system maintenance, preferable with extensive experience in inspecting and testing of Simplex Fire Alarm panels and related equipment.
- Certificate from the CFAA (Canadian Fire Alarm Association); and/or Diploma in Fire Protection.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specification software/systems schematics and operational/product manuals.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Fire Code, NFPA, Ontario Building Code, OESC and Electrical Safety Authority.
- Must have a valid non-probationary Class “G” Province of Ontario Driver’s License in good standing.
- Basic Computer skills, including the ability to use handheld communication devices, and the ability to prioritize the order in which Work Orders are completed.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Sound judgement, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Who we are?
Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) is a P3 consortium comprised of EllisDon, Atkins Realis, Aecon and ACS - Dragados. CTS has been selected by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario to deliver the ECLRT Project. CTSM is part of this joint venture and will provide Maintenance and Rehabilitation Services for System Assets of the 19-kilometre ECLRT for a 30-year contract term.

Please note, we are located at 85 Industry Street, Toronto, Ontario, and cannot accommodate working remotely. The successful candidate will be expected to physically work at this location.
