Electrical Buyer (Senior)

Location: Calgary
This position is responsible for the requisitioning and purchase of specialized electrical supplies, materials and equipment while optimizing price and delivery requirements.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides pricing to Estimating for bid purposes and assists in the management of databases.
- Conducts product searches and knowledge gathering for internal customer needs, leads user department and vendor discussions relating to the subject; conducts usage history and competition analysis.
- Ensures the maintenance of proper records of the activities from the procurement department for financial and audit purposes.
- Accepts and processes phone orders received from field offices and projects department.
- Accepts and processes rush orders as may be phoned or faxed from the field, and takes appropriate remedial action where there is abuse of the procedure.
- Collaborates with other procurement employees to manage the background database;
- Obtains, analyzes, and provides competitive pricing for estimating bid packages;
- Liaises with customers, suppliers and users regarding delivery of orders, and status of scheduled deliveries.
- Contacts vendors and provides description of the product or service to be procured, compares costs and evaluates the quality and suitability of supplies, materials and equipment.
- Verifies and enters invoices, purchase orders and other required data into NAVISION accounting system.
- Plans, organizes and coordinates day-to-day operations of the warehouse; and the redeployment of central warehouse material.
- Inspects delivered products, and products returning from job sites as surplus, for quality issues prior to return or redeployment.
- Expedites orders.
- Performs inventory counts.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with full range of industrial electrical product lines such as: Crouse Hinds, Appleton, Killark, Allen Bradley, Thomas & Betts, Cutler Hammer, Sq D etc.
- Familiarity with instrumentation and commercial electrical products
- Familiarity with database management considered an asset.
- Positive, professional and outgoing demeanor and phone manner.
- Strong organizational and customer service skills.
- Good technical knowledge (Navision, Microsoft Office, etc.).
- Good knowledge of Excel is required.
- Good communication and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Valid driver’s license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work takes place indoors, and occasional work outdoors, often in extreme temperatures.
- This position requires the ability to walk long distances which may be large and congested.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $90,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
