Position Description: The Finance Analyst will provide support to enhance the reporting, analysis, controls & management work of Indwell’s Financial Accountant, to whom they report. This will include routine work within the existing accounting systems to ensure transactions are recorded appropriately, as well as specific project work that supports Indwell’s growth as an organization and achievement of its strategic plan.
This role is a crucial support in expanding the capacity of the finance department to explore systematic changes to improve the quality and accessibility of financial data in order to inform operational decisions by program and development staff. Ultimately, the Finance Analyst gathers, reviews and analyzes overall business data and metrics, including, but not limited to financial data, income and expense information, development and construction budgets, analysis, employment reports and other components of the organization.
The Finance Analyst will work primarily with colleagues in the finance department to build and maintain financial and information systems and record accounting entries but will also work with other departments to identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of systems.

Location: 1430 Main St E, Hamilton, ON (remote working flexibility is assume for approximately 40% of work week – access to reliable high-speed internet is required for remote work)
Hours of Work: Full time, 40 hours per week, primarily weekdays, some flexibility is required. This position is a temporary contract, ending after 16 weeks. *Position length and hours subject to approval by Service Canada.
What You Will Be Doing:
Financial Accounting
- Provide administrative support to Financial Accountant and team
- Make routine entries to accounting systems (spreadsheets, Yardi) with training provided
- Prepare routine reports for internal and external parties – government organizations, funders
- Support communication between finance and other departments in budget building and review
- Pull information and correspond with auditors during Indwell’s annual audit of financial statements and the separate audit of Indwell’s Ministry of Health reporting
- Correspond with Impact Loan lenders including email and phone calls
- Process Impact Loan payments and renewals
- Promote and demonstrate the vision, mission and values of Indwell and Flourish within the workplace and the community
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development activities, and organizational functions as required
- Support fellow employees, students, and volunteers as needed
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software
- Effective and efficient written and verbal communication
- Excellent time management skills, including working independently
- Accuracy and attention to particularly financial details
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Possesses a high degree of professionalism in communicating with colleagues and Indwell’s partners.
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office 365 suite
- Must be able to reliably attain transportation to Indwell’s Resource Centre at 1430 Main Street East, Hamilton.
- Be between the ages of 18-30 at start of employment
- Be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be in possession of a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Be available to work for the duration of the contract
