Summary:
Under the direction of the Team Lead and Transportation Supervisor, the Class 3 Driver is responsible for the pick-up and delivery of materials through the operation of trucks and forklifts.
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment testing and requires a commercial Class 3 Driver’s License (or equivalent), and a satisfactory Commercial Driver’s Abstract to support insurability. Employees are required to complete an in-house road-test prior to onboarding.
Key Focuses:
- Fill out pre and post trip inspection forms and submit to the office
- Travel to and from town and site to pick up and deliver goods and materials to their destination in a timely and efficient manner
- Completing daily driver logs/e-Log (Samsara) in accordance with Alberta’s hour of service regulations
- Ensure material is secured to the truck using tie down straps or chains
- Upon delivery of material, get a signature and ID number on the FMGOC bill of lading for proof of delivery and acceptance
- Ensure truck is properly equipped and in proper working order
- Perform light maintenance when necessary (greasing, changing lights, tire pressure)
- Speak with dispatch to get pick-up calls
- Maintain shipping and loading documents, copy document numbers, PO numbers, and work order numbers onto a FMGOC bill of lading
- Load and unload trucks using forklift, loader, or by hand
- Ensure that the vehicle is fueled and cleaned at the end of shift
- Perform any related and/or additional duties as assigned
- Completion of High School or GED equivalent, or completion of an equivalent Vocational program is required at a minimum
- A valid Class 3 Commercial License (or equivalent) is required, along with a satisfactory 5-year Commercial Drivers Abstract
- Completion of TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) course and WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) course is required
- A Load Securement and/or Forklift course is an asset
- Knowledge and/or experience in using an electronic log system is required but not necessary
- Knowledge in MS Office is an asset
- At least 3+ years of deliver/courier driving experience in a Logistics, Warehouse/Yard, or Transportation environment is required
- Candidates with CSTS and OSSA or CSO/BSO is required
- At least 1+ years Forklift experience
- Good orientation knowledge with ability to read maps, traverse urban environments, and find locations easily
- Competent, courteous and defensive driver who will comply with all driving rules and regulations
- Mechanically inclined with some experience troubleshooting various mechanical issues
- Effective customer service, communicator and interpersonal skills, including excellent oral, written communication, and listening skills
Work Schedule: Team 502 (3 days, 3 nights and 6 off; 12 hours per day)
