WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Central Booking Clerk services multiple outpatient clinic areas to support the patient care team and the patient experience. Responsibilities include: booking patient appointments in a timely and patient-friendly manner, maintaining the integrity of the electronic chart and converting any paper documents to an electronic format and collaborating with outpatient clinic staff and clinicians to optimize patient care and the patient experience .
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Grade 12 Diploma or GED required. Successful completion of a Medical Office Support Staff Certification, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience .
WHO YOU ARE:
- Demonstrated customer focused/driven attitude, exceptional customer service skills and positive customer philosophy
- Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft office suite and good computer skills
- Accurate keyboarding skills (40 wpm)
- Able to use standard office equipment including a computer, laser printer, label printer, fax machine, multifunction photocopier, calculator, and telephone. (Option to add other department specific equipment to the list)
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and follow current privacy regulations
- Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively over the telephone, with patients/families, staff and physicians and the community
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and use good judgement when making decisions
- Demonstrated good team work skills and ability to work collaboratively and promote a positive attitude within the team
- Excellent organizational, problem solving and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations
- Demonstrated ability to work with precision and accuracy with attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated patience and flexibility to support multiple client demands
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task when facing multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain good attendance and punctuality
- Ability to remain calm during emergency situations and carefully follow code procedures
- Demonstrated ability to complete work accurately and meet deadlines
- Nonessential:
- Experience with Epic considered an asset
