QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of a Medical Office Administration Program or Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent in related experience
o Working experience transcribing and/or understanding/utilizing medical terminology
o One year related clerical experience in a high volume, fast paced department within a health care/clinical setting
o One year experience with computer software including Microsoft Office programs, with data entry experience
o Demonstrated knowledge and experience in dealing with mental health clients, their families and community agencies required
o Knowledge of Recovery Based Care within an interdisciplinary team setting
o Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum of 50 w.p.m
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
o Working knowledge of medical office procedures and office equipment, i.e. photocopiers, fax, voice mail systems etc.
o Evidence of effective customer service, interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
o Excellent communication skills and ability to respect the confidentially of personnel and patient information.
o Compliance with confidentiality requirements under the Niagara Health Privacy Policy.
o Demonstrated professional attitude while interacting with the public, patients, employees and medical staff.
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
o Consistent and regular attendance required.
o Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
