Nova Biomedical is hiring a Clinical Applications Specialist, Canada (Part-Time Contractor – 12 – 16 hours per week on average) to be responsible for the clinical utilization, education, and support of NOVA products within Canada. Clinical Applications includes but is not limited to the clinical use, advancement, and preference for NOVA products in the market and accounts which NOVA serves. As the Clinical Applications Specialist (CAS) you will provide clinical experience, expertise, and influence to support organizational objectives, regional strategies, service, and sales.
Commercial support will be strategically focused upon multiple levels of clinical influence including users, regional influencers, and national KOLs with the key task of supporting clinical evaluations. This objective will include direct clinical consultation and driving best practices across the assigned region(s). Eventually, this may include presence on Webinar, Podcast, and other digital education channels to build the status of domestic technical Subject Matter Expert for the markets in which we serve.
The role will require the CAS to assist with customer problem solving and solution finding as the technical clinical expert for the Canadian organization. Working with the sales and/or service teams, the CAS will be the “go to” when customers are experiencing clinical/analytics challenges, and to support the sales and service teams as required.
You will also be instrumental in all aspects of new business, lead through evaluation, close and implementation. Working in collaboration with the sales team is key and the CAS will continue to be customer facing as required in each stage of the customer life cycle.
Responsibilities:
- Performs on-site application studies, wet demonstrations, and lab evaluations as required for all NOVA products.
- On-site application activities include:
- Sales product evaluations support
- Correlation to alternative reference Methods
- Precision studies
- Benchtop interference studies
- Linearity studies
- Onsite customer training
- Responsible for developing and maintaining customer training materials and documents.
- Works with new customers after the sale to streamline the validation requirements for Nova products and ensure a smooth, successful transition to Nova technology.
- Reviews, prepares data outputs, and presents performance data obtained during on-site applications studies to prospects and current customers as appropriate.
- Requires the ability to understand and educate end users on instrument use and application issues, and the ability to perform data analysis in support of Clinical Applications objectives.
- Enter the details of each activity and call including the steps taken to resolve problems and/or answer questions in the appropriate software platforms.
- Works closely with Nova field sales adding value through the sales process for all business opportunities.
- Take a participating role in the development of NOVA Centers of Excellence and champion KOL development.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; sciences with an appropriate discipline and/or industry experience.
- MLT qualification with appropriate experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
- Relevant clinical knowledge and/or experience within the POCT industry.
- Requires excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Computer skills, proficiency with MS Office package including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Exceptional priority and time management skills.
- Must have excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills, with experience or aptitude in presenting.

Preferred:
- 3+ years of related experience in the diagnostics industry with emphasis on technical support and end user training.
- Clinical laboratory bench experience and/or POCT experience is ideal.
- Competency with statistics and basic familiarity with linear regression analysis is a plus.
- Familiarity with Blood Glucose and Blood Gas testing is a plus.
- Bilingual, English and French.
The pay for this position is $50 per hour CAD (not eligible for payroll/benefits).
This position may require intermittent travel. Must be capable of travelling to the US and/or internationally as required. Requires a driver’s license and a good driving record. Dates and hours will be as mutually agreed upon and in advance.
