Overview

We're looking for three highly motivated co-op students to join our Divisional Planning, Coordination and Support Services (DPCSS) department.

The DPCSS department, in the Claims and Rehabilitation Services (CRS) division, is an internal planning and support team for the largest division of WorkSafeBC. DPCSS supports the CRS leadership team in its planning and resourcing and supports the CRS Division in meeting its strategic and operational priorities. It is responsible for defining and prioritizing business system/intelligence needs, conducting strategy and product management, analyzing key outcomes and supporting CRS operational departments to achieve their goals. Two positions are with our divisional planning team focused on the implementation of the CRS strategic plan. One position is with our business product management.

These are four-month full-time positions starting in May 2023.

How you'll make a difference: You'll help us strive towards our vision of supporting injured workers' recovery and return to work.

Where you'll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In these roles, you'll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in our Richmond office.

What you'll do

Co-op student, DPCSS
  • Gather and analyze information from a broad variety of stakeholders (e.g., senior management, line management and staff)
  • Identify opportunities and support recommendations that further WorkSafeBC's strategic initiatives
  • Apply data-driven thinking to develop and improve business processes and systems
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to pertinent stakeholders

Co-op student, Technical Writer
  • Research, outline, write, and edit content, working closely with various departments to understand project requirements
  • Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
  • Work with development and support leads to identify documentation repositories, revise, and edit, and determine best solutions for data compilation and centralized storage
  • Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation

We're looking for a person who can:
  • Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Demonstrate a curious and creative mindset when viewing problems
  • Clearly and concisely communicate and present information and data in written, graphical and verbal formats to a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and stakeholder collaboration skills

Your background and experience
  • Enrolled in a business administration program or similarly related program
  • Working knowledge in the following areas would be an asset: data analysis, product management, project management, process improvement, user experience design, program evaluation, research and innovation
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Co-op student, Technical Writer

We're looking for a person who can:
  • Evaluate and analyze complex information
  • Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of target audiences
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally
  • Clearly and concisely communicate and present information and data in written, graphical, and verbal formats
  • Review current content and develop innovative methods for improvement

Your background and experience
  • Enrolled in a journalism, communication, business administration program or similarly related program
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint is an asset
