Lafarge has a fantastic development opportunity for a recent graduate or a current student working towards a degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or another related field. As a Communications Co-op student, you will work alongside our Communications team to gain hands-on experience supporting corporate communications related projects including internal and external communications, media monitoring, visual communications materials, research and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Support drafting internal communications, including support with the Western Canada employee e-newsletter, weekly HR update, and Intranet articles
- Drafting external communications related to success stories and thought pieces
- Media monitoring and measurement on Meltwater for Lafarge and competitors
- Develop visual communication materials and graphic design elements, not limited to slide decks, brochures, case studies, etc.
- Ensure consistency and adherence to brand voice and maintain brand integrity in communications
- Research and report on current and industry trends, social media practices, etc.
- Reports to the Communications & Marketing Coordinator
Education:
- Pursuing (or recently completed) a degree or certificate in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- Experience in Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, etc.), Canva and Hootsuite is an asset
- Experience working with Trello to manage projects is an asset
- Experience working with Google Suite is required
- Advanced written communications skills and a passion for writing creatively
- Well-developed organizational skills
- Ability to juggle tight timelines and manage time efficiently
- Creative and forward thinker with an innovative nature
