IATSE Local 891 is a labour organization representing over 10,000 professional artists and technicians working in nineteen (19) different departments in the British Columbia and Yukon film industry. The skills, professionalism and world class reputation of IATSE Local 891’s members attract film and television producers from across the globe.
We are seeking a Temporary, Part-Time Communications Office Assistant to join our Communications Team.
The w:
- Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays will be from 12:00 pm-4:00 pm
- Tuesdays from 9 am – 5 pm
Primary Function:
Reporting formally to the Senior Manager, Administration and Finance and up to the President, the successful applicant will mainly take direction and provide support to the Business Representative, Communications Coordinator, and Assistant to the Business Representative and may provide back-up assistance by partnering with other internal teams on a variety of office activities as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with writing in various writing styles for IATSE Local 891’s publications (news, short articles and profiles, social media posts, e-news items).
- Edits and proofreads to a high standard.
- Assists with sourcing and preparing social media posts.
- Assists with designing and producing promotional material – print and digital – using Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint).
- Assists with updating and preparing content for the IATSE Local 891 website, weekly email bulletin, other newsletters, send-blasts, etc.
- Assists with drafting and conducting surveys.
- Assists with the enhancement of images using Photoshop.
- Maintains photo library, media logs, and communications calendar.
- Assists with communications and administrative support for special events organized by the Business Representative’s office.
- Handles administrative tasks for communications and business rep assistants.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Assist with producing various forms and templates used throughout the IATSE office.
Qualifications:
- Minimum grade 12 with relevant post-secondary accomplishments.
- Strong demonstrated ability to write and edit to a high standard and exceptional attention to detail – samples will be requested, or testing will occur.
- Strong evidence of strong graphic design skills using the full Adobe Suite – samples will be requested.
- Basic html coding.
- Works well working in a team environment as well as independently.
- Understands principles of good customer service.
- Able to prioritize and organize workflow.
Examinations may be administered to corroborate qualifications. Interviewees will be asked to provide samples of graphic design and communications work.
This is a Unifor bargaining unit position.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Salary: $27.01 per hour
