Community Services Manager
Ts’uubaa-asatx, located in Lake Cowichan, BC, requires the services of a Community Services Manager. This is a full-time permanent position (28 hours per week). Schedule will be Monday to Thursday 9am-4pm or unless otherwise directed.
This position oversees the Ts’uubaa-asatx health department, social development, youth and elder programs, and language and culture programming. This position also supports the Council in the development of Ts’uubaa-asatx strategic plan and goals around Community Services. The Position will be reporting to the Operations Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee all Health and Community Services for Ts’uubaa-asatx
- Plan, administer, organize, direct, and evaluate the delivery of social and community service programs within budget
- Create and implement policies/processes for community support and development for events and food security programs
- Assist in the planning of services and programs to be housed within the Community Services Building
- Organize events such as Indigenous People’s Day, Ts’uubaa-asatx Days, Day of Reconciliation, and other key events
- Provide oversight to the Little Cubs Early Years Center
- Create, develop, and submit annual budgets/strategic plans/reports to Operations Manager
- Oversee grants and funding to support new and existing programs/services with regards to Community Services
- Review program strategic objectives and activities to determine if they are achieving their goals and making recommendations for improvement
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of community and health services programs and ensuring that they are being conducted safely
- Maintain communication with stakeholders, including government officials (First Nations Health Authority, Island Health, Kwumut Lelum, BCACCS, CSETS, etc.), other local agencies and community leaders and members
- Coordinate Ts’uubaa-asatx outreach and prevention activities, including planning community events
- Conduct research on community needs and develop programs to meet those needs
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
· 5+ years experience of program management, preferably with First Nations
· 3+ years of supervisory experience managing staff
· Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, social work, or a related field and/or equivalent administrative management experience
· Experience creating and developing program policies, budgets, and funding proposals
· Cultural sensitivity and awareness with thorough knowledge of the current First Nations governance landscape in BC and knowledge of relevant socio-historical events relevant to First Nations in Canada
· Strong relationship building skills with a community-first mindset and approach
· Computer literate in Microsoft Office with proficiency in Excel and Word
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
· Must have valid BC Driver’s License
