Reporting to the Manager, Easter Seals McQueen Residence, the Candidate will:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Meal Preparation Service
- Responsible to purchase food items and household goods and supplies
- Provide all meals for the residents & staff during regular weekly shifts, this includes preparation and clean-up of supper before end of shift
- Prepare weekend and holiday meals in advance. There may be special occasions that require a plan and preparation on Saturdays
- Plan menus in collaboration with residents and their care plans, LPN, and in accordance with budget and Canada Food Guide
- Ensure all kitchen supplies (utensils and dishes) are in good condition and replace as necessary
- Plan and plant a garden each year with vegetables and herbs commonly used at McQueen Residence
- Responsible to ensure garden is watered and weeded on a regular basis
Health & Safety
- Conduct daily temperature checks for all fridges and freezers. Record checks accordingly
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of food in accordance with Food Safety and Protection Policies and Procedures
- Responsible to properly store, clean, and maintain kitchen utensils, cooking vessels, dishes, floors, and equipment
- Review kitchen maintenance schedules. Report repairs and required
- Dispose of kitchen garbage at the end of each shift
Administration & Training
- Complete training requirements as per CCHSS through AHS SL
- Ensure certifications are maintained as per policy requirements (Food Safety, WHIMS)
- Attend staff meeting and in-services
- Follow policies and procedures as per ESAS and McQueen Residence
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Cooking certificate required
- Safe Food Handling certificate required
- Current Emergency First Aid with Level A CPR
- Able to work independently
- Strong conflict management skills
- Experience in budget management
- Motivated
- Compassionate and caring
- Previous experience working with people with disabilities is an asset
- Strong commitment to ESA vision, mission, and values
- Strong interpersonal with ability to build relationships with others and be sensitive to the needs of different communities, cultures, and abilities
- A team player: willing to roll up their sleeves and help where and when necessary
OTHER
- Must provide a clear Police Information and Vulnerable Sector check
- Must have up-to-date vaccinations including COVID-19 ( two doses), TB, Annual flu vaccination
