JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Dietary Aide/ Cook you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and satisfaction of our residents' dining experience. Your responsibilities will include:
- Receiving and storing incoming food and supplies efficiently
- Monitoring the quality of received food and supplies and promptly notifying the Nutrition Manager of any issues
- Reporting food, supply, and equipment needs to the Nutrition Manager
- Strictly adhering to proper food handling techniques and infection control practices
- Carrying out food preparation, menu planning, and food sanitation activities while upholding food safety standards
- Providing exceptional customer service to residents during meal service
- Assisting in the efficient operation of the dining room, coordinating meal deliveries, and accommodating specialty orders
- Contributing to the cleanliness of the main kitchen and kitchenettes
- Assisting with pot washing and operating the dish machine
- Meeting the physical requirements of the position to ensure efficient performance
- Demonstrating reliability, efficiency, tidiness, and conscientiousness in all tasks
- Maintaining a courteous and tactful demeanor when interacting with seniors, nursing staff, and colleagues
- Working independently to complete all duties, follow job schedules, and meet physical demands
- Being available to work every other weekend as required
- Experience working as a cook
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Certifications:
- Food Service Workers Certificate
- Current Food Handlers Certificate
Background Check: Vulnerable Sector Screening/Check
Immunizations Up-to-date immunizations including min 3 doses for COVID-19
Tests: 2 Step TB Tests & N95 Mask Fit Test
Compassion and Empathy: A genuine desire to help and care for elderly residents, along with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ethical Behavior: Adherence to professional and ethical standards in caregiving, including respecting residents' rights
and privacy.
Teamwork: Collaboration skills to work effectively with RSA Staff, nurses, PSWs, and other healthcare professionals.
Adaptability: The capacity to adapt to changing situations and schedules in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Cultural Sensitivity: The ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment while providing culturally sensitive care to residents from diverse backgrounds.
Resident-Centered Care: A focus on providing person-centered care, which involves tailoring care to meet each resident's unique needs and preferences with a high level of professionalism and dedication to resident well-being.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
