The Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) department aims to inspire and connect our customers, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, deliver business outcomes and enhance our brand. We deliver best-in-class external and internal communications to help differentiate TD in the market and elevate our brand.

Job Details

We are looking for a seasoned and motivated communicator to join our team and help us bring the TD story to life through strategic and creative communications. The successful candidate will provide executive communications support to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and more broadly across TD's Human Resources team.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, this individual will help articulate a thoughtful and compelling voice for the CHRO and support efforts to advance the Bank's narrative in a differentiated way. The role requires a talented and strong writer with a diverse skill set; experience creating thought leadership platforms and strategies, proficiency managing multiple priorities and stakeholders, attention to detail, and experience navigating a large organization.
The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborate closely with partners and stakeholders to shape engagement opportunities for the CHRO and other leaders, researching and developing briefing documents for these events.
  • Develop engaging speeches, articles and thought leadership pieces that express leaders' voices in ways that enhance TD's brand, reputation, and narrative.
  • Partner effectively with colleagues and business partners to understand business priorities and how they should inform the leader messages, engagements and other communications.
  • Help shape and elevate communications in ways that reaffirm the Bank's differentiated culture, instill confidence in our strategy, and position TD as a leader on issues that matter to our customers, colleagues, and communities.
  • Partner with the HR for HR team on various internal strategies and organizational/leadership announcements.
  • Manage the quarterly executive titling program, in partnership with HR Organizational Effectiveness.
Job Requirements
  • 7-12 years of experience in communications or related field, with background working in a Corporate Communications environment.
  • Exceptional writing skills, with a passion for creating content that conveys a clear and relevant message and that effectively capture tone and voice.
  • Experience writing speeches and preparing presentations.
  • Experience in exercising judgment and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and in providing sound communication counsel to senior executives.
  • Ability to develop and implement interesting and innovative executive communications plans, with a point of view on how to leverage executive voice to drive business objectives.
  • Strong interest in world news and broader issues and trends, combined with understanding of the financial services sector and the ability to apply to executive communication strategy.
