POSITION SUMMARY

We are looking for a Corporate Communications Specialist to join our national Profile and Client Development team and grow Dentons' profile in the Canadian legal market. Reporting to the Communications and Profile Manager, the Specialist is a creative and strong writer with a mature understanding of Corporate Communications and a keen eye for detail. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with members of the Profile and Client Development team, lawyers and other legal professionals to develop and deliver compelling client-facing content that aligns with the Firm's strategy.

The Corporate Communications Specialist is skilled at distilling complex topics into relatable messaging that connects with clients. This individual excels at drafting, reviewing and editing new content, and enhancing existing content.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, refine and enhance external communications by creating and editing impactful content, including thought leadership, social media copy, firm announcements (news releases, promotion of directories and awards, etc.) and client-facing materials, ensuring that all content meets brand and style guidelines
  • Craft compelling marketing copy to promote practice and sector strengths through integrated multi-channel communications plans, including social media and advertising campaigns
  • Actively support and assist media relations activities across Canada, including identifying relevant topics for proactive media outreach to pitch our lawyers' expertise for commentary
  • Draft and review compelling nominations to support the award and directories submission process
  • Collaborate closely with local, national and global colleagues to collaborate on joint firmwide projects and initiatives
  • Play a key role in a diverse array of profile-enhancing projects that contribute to the firm's overall success and reputation

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, English, marketing or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in B2B / professional services communications; experience in legal communications is an asset
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and proofing skills
  • High attention to detail and organization skills to juggle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Energetic, self-motivated, entrepreneurial and results-oriented with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Team player who is able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with various stakeholders, including senior management
  • Detailed knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • French is an asset
