Cost Accountant

Job Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Georgetown, ON for a Cost Accountant at Freshouse Foods. The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, planning, and reporting on the cost of production activities and inventory management. The Cost Accountant will also work with cross-functional teams to provide insights to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain the organization’s bill of materials for all finished products.
• Responsible for tracking inventory movements within the facility and 3rd party locations.
• Generate production reports daily for senior leadership to review.
• Report on manufacturing overhead spend vs. budget.
• Provide financial support to Operations, Purchasing, and Logistics.
• Key member of our SAP implementation team.
• Other projects as determined.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting or related field
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and cost accounting methodologies
• Experience with inventory management and tracking, product costing, and variance analysis
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus
