Duties
The key duties include:
- assisting with monitoring of Cultural Resources
- artifact collections management: including inventory, re-organizing, updating inventory data base, and basic condition assessment; and,
- assisting with historic research
Work environment
Rocky Mountain House National Historic Site is a fine example of the fur trade in the west. Discover a historic trading post along the North Saskatchewan River and immerse yourself in stories of Indigenous Peoples and legendary explorers.
Intent of the process
The results may be used in the future to fill other temporary student vacancies that may arise in the Banff Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, depending on status of the selected candidate.

Open to students currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary school in an accredited institution and/or those participating in adult education and retraining programs at the secondary level, operated under the authority of an accredited academic institution.
Degree equivalency
- Experience collecting data and recording it according to detailed instructions.
- Experience using MS Word/Excel/Power Point.
- Experience in project work related to archaeology, history, museum studies, artifacts, or archives.

Asset Experience:
- Experience doing archaeological field work or working with collections in a museum environment.
- Willing and able to wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal safety equipment.
- Willing and able to work varied hours, shift, weekends, evenings, overtime, and holidays.
- Willing and able to work outdoors including backcountry travel and be exposed to various weather conditions.
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as: lifting heavy boxes, cleaning historic buildings and exhibits, and minor maintenance.
- Willing and able to conduct repetitive tasks and make moderate effort to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent
Conditions of employment
