Under the direction of the Supervisor, Customer Service, the Customer Service Associate (Student) will provide clerical and administrative support to the Customer Service department in the delivery of Customer Service by performing a variety of general Customer Service activities including providing general information to external and internal customers/users of Town services, assisting customers in securing services, as well as responding to general inquires. The Customer Service Centre is the first line of contact with individuals seeking information and/or requiring services in person, via telephone, voice/e-mail and Internet.
This position is eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs grant program. To be eligible, youth must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and, have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Post-secondary courses in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Computer Studies, Office Administration . Demonstrated Customer Service or related discipline, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Experience in an office environment with multi-service provision and/or a broad knowledge of a variety of municipal services is an asset.
Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook) and demonstrated comfort level with the Internet. Proven aptitude for the learning & use of various software applications (i.e. Customer Relations Management).
Excellent interpersonal, public relations, organization, and problem/complaint resolution skills.
Ability to consistently apply diplomacy and courtesy when dealing with all internal and external customers.
Demonstrated good written communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy is necessary as is a strong comfort level with numerical responsibilities.
Outstanding Customer Service skills with an ability to maintain composure regardless of the demands of the environment.
Ability to prioritize demands, meet Customer Service standards and deadlines. Previous experience demonstrating a higher level of multi-tasking.
Ability to handle all matters with a high degree of discretion and professionalism.
