Buckwold Western Ltd. traces its history back to 1925 when the Buckwold family established a small dry goods business in Saskatoon. Today we remain a privately held, family managed 100% Canadian enterprise, serving the specialized needs of the western Canadian floorcovering market. Our established customer accounts include full-service independent flooring retailers, commercial flooring contractors, and major buying group flooring dealers.
We are currently hiring for the position of Customer Service Representative (CSR) at our Saskatoon Head Office, located at Unit 70 – 3239 Faithfull Ave.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES
- Process all in-house customer orders via phone/email/other in a professional, friendly, and empathetic manner
- Perform stock checks and answer customer inquiries on product information, recommending add-ons/up-sells and alternatives when possible
- Track and trace customer back orders from order placement to order completion
- Coordinate customer pick-ups and deliveries at six physical locations across western Canada (Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, and Vancouver)
- Multi-task and manage various communication channels - transferring calls and forwarding emails as needed – while maintaining electronic filing systems and customer account information effectively
- Receive, investigate, communicate, and resolve customer complaints and issues in a timely manner
ATTRIBUTES OF A SUCCESSFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE
Ability to develop strong product knowledge
- Buckwold Western Ltd. has over 20,000 products in its portfolio, and it is essential that the CSR is able to respond to questions effectively and accurately. Product knowledge development will be extensive and ongoing, but the CSR is expected to know where to find answers to customer questions in the meantime.
Excellent data entry skills
- While time will be given for the CSR to hone their comfort and skills with the company’s various software and applications, innate technical accuracy and attention to detail are critical to this position.
Outstanding communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers
- An aptitude for efficient and timely – but also friendly and outgoing – conversation is required. Communication skills must be prevalent through all communication channels (i.e., comfortable with both written and verbal interactions).
Enthusiastic team player
- The CSR is required to liaise with various entities of the Buckwold Western family, including but not limited to other CSRs, the Customer Service Manager, the purchasing group, payables, Operations Managers, Branch Managers, among others.
Tendency to “go the extra mile”
- The ideal candidate will tend to take the initiative to go above and beyond the guidelines of their job description to help customers and to collaborate with colleagues as part of an effective team.
Familiarity and experience with various flooring products and accessories, wholesale distribution channels, global transportation and freight, and current challenges in the distribution industry are considered a strong asset but are not required.
