Position:Damage Prevention Technician, Full-time, Permanent

Schedule: Monday to Friday, Overtime available
Primary Responsibilities
Damage Prevention Technicians locate underground utilities i.e., electrical cables, water lines, sewer lines, steam lines, gas lines, telephone lines, and more, for a prescribed geography. Using company-provided equipment, Damage Prevention Technician will locate, mark (with spray paint and flags) and record underground utilities. Full training is provided.
Other duties include but are not limited to:
- Employing a health and safety mindset with customers and communities
- Consulting with contractors, developers, and builders, regarding locations of underground utilities
- Preparing reports and documentation verifying marked utilities
- Safeguarding of company equipment and vehicles.
Successful candidates will have the following requirements:
- The ability to work independently and manage a workload to meet necessary deadlines
- Good customer service skills
- Proficient use of a computer
- The ability to problem solve and demonstrate good judgment as situations dictate
- The ability to walk long distances and on uneven surfaces, lift and load equipment up to 9kg (20 lbs) in and out of the vehicle multiple times per day, carrying 20lbs of equipment while walking
- The ability to see colours
- The ability to work in all types of weather
- Have a valid ‘G’ class Driver’s License and a clean three (3) year Driver’s Abstract as this position includes a company vehicle for business purposes only
- The ability to work weekends, on-call and overtime as required
Candidates will be required to approve a basic criminal background check and provide up to three references at the time of the interview.
