About this role:

The Director, Change Management focuses on the people side of change, and plays a critical role in building, supporting, and executing change management plans that will support realization of Meridian’s strategy and initiatives.

The Director, Change Management leads a Change Management Centre of Excellence, ensuring the effective and consistent implementation of CM discipline and plans; and creating and maintaining standard change management tools, templates and reporting. The ultimate goal for the Director, CM is to increase benefit realization, ROI, and the achievement of results by increasing employee change adoption through effective pacing of activities and support.

Acting as a coach for senior leaders and executives, the Director, Change Management helps them fulfill the critical role of change management sponsor. Similarly, the incumbent and their team of Change Management Practitioners support project managers and project teams to integrate change management activities with their project plans.

Key Responsibilities:

Integrating Change Management Discipline:

  • Implement a change management model, tools, and techniques, including use of change sponsorship, communication, training, coaching and resistance to assist in implementing organizational change and communicating the change to the impacted stakeholders.
  • Develop a means of measuring and reporting enterprise change readiness and effectiveness.
  • Integrate change management methodologies into core processes (i.e. Enterprise Project Management plan and reporting) to ensure impact on employees is considered for all initiatives in a systematic way and assessments are reflected in reporting.
  • Continually assess the effectiveness and return on investment of change management processes.
  • Design a process to evaluate and ensure employee readiness including indicators of change effectiveness and identifying recommended course of action.

Leading Change Management Centre of Excellence:

  • Lead Change Specialists to support select strategic initiatives inclusive of building & planning, executing, and tracking change plan milestones such as:
    • Communications;
    • Training;
    • Stakeholder engagement;
    • Change impact assessment;
    • Organizational readiness analysis;
    • Post implementation support & reinforcement;
    • Lessons learned.
  • Consult and coach project teams to ensure effective change principles are integrated into Project Plans.
  • Work closely with the VP, Employee Experience, the extended People & Culture team, and directly with the business, sharing key performance indicators and insights.

Thought Leadership & Reporting:

  • Work with the VP, Employee Experience to develop a Centre of Excellence (COE) to support enterprise change. COE support includes creating tools and processes to increase change adoption, company effectiveness, leadership team effectiveness and measurement contributing to high organizational performance.
  • Assist with developing content and consulting offerings to equip leadership, EPMO and Strategy Team to effectively implement and use enterprise methodologies and toolkits.
  • Support communication efforts - Enable the design, development, delivery and management of key communications.
  • Support training efforts - Provide input and support the design and delivery of training programs.

Experience:

  • Support change management at the organizational level, managing the enterprise change portfolio.
  • Identify, analyze and prepare risk mitigation tactics.
  • Consult and coach project teams.
  • Create actionable deliverables for the core change management plans: Sponsor Plan, People Manager Plan, Communications Plan, and Training Plan.
  • Support and engage senior leaders.
  • Coordinate efforts of CM Specialists.
  • Integrate change management activities into the Enterprise Project Management plans and reporting.
  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress against KPIs, continuously improving the approach to CM.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A solid understanding of how organizations and individuals go through the change process.
  • Experience with and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and tools. Prosci certification and working with Prosci templates an asset.
  • Exceptional reporting and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations.
  • Forward looking with a holistic approach
  • Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics.
  • Problem solving and root-cause identification skills.
  • Acute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts.
  • Change management certification or designation desired.
