Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic seasoned communications professional to join our team as the Director of Communications. As the Director, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing Alterna Savings and Alterna Bank communication strategies. This hands-on position requires someone with excellent writing skills across a range of channels for both internal and external initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify key messages and ensure consistent communication across all channels.
- Proactively pitch stories, respond to media inquiries, and manage crisis communication effectively.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of a strong, consistent brand identity.
- Lead a 3-person team of writer, social media and communication specialists to create compelling and relevant content for various channels, including press releases, e-newsletters, social media, and event collateral.
- Develop and implement internal communication pieces to keep employees informed and engaged.
- Establish and maintain relationships with exec-level leaders.
- Write speeches and thought leadership pieces for the CEO and C-Suite stakeholders.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication before, during, and after events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.
- Proven experience in a leadership role within communications, preferably as a Director or in a similar capacity.
- Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Desire to be hands-on in writing.
- Proficient in using digital communication tools and platforms.
- Experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
