Description:
Position Summary:
The University of Toronto is undertaking an ambitious tri-campus Mental Health strategy to improve services for students.   Located within the office of the Vice Provost Students, the Office of the Senior Executive Director Student Mental Health collaborates with the tri-campus health centres, faculties, divisions and departments to optimize services, incorporate best practices and build university, hospital and community partnerships. The Office of the Senior Executive Director (OSED) was established in 2022 as part of the recommendations of the Presidential and Provostial Task Force Report on Student Mental Health (2019).     The OSED team serves as a tri-campus resource to support the vision of building an effective stepped-care service model that ensures equitable, culturally competent access to high quality Mental Health services for all students.   Student engagement and co-design, measurement-based care and evaluation are important pillars of this strategy.   
Reporting to the Senior Executive Director, the Director – Student Mental Health and Communications, provides managerial oversight and support for developing, implementing and championing projects and initiatives of strategic priority, and independently leading and managing the development and implementation of complex, large-scale, and high-priority institutional projects, initiatives, and partnerships.  The Director is responsible for identifying issues, advising on strategy and Communications, the design of recommended solutions, implementing project plans, coordinating data analytics, and responding to the objectives and priorities of the Senior Executive Director.  The Director is a subject matter expert providing advice and direction to senior leaders and a broad range of stakeholders across the university.
Qualification Required:
Education:
-University post graduate degree (master’s or PhD) from a recognized regulated health professional program required (Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy etc).
-Project Management Certification is an asset.
-Additional education in health administration and/or health informatics a significant asset. 
-Member in good standing of an Ontario regulated healthcare college. 
 
Experience: 
-Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a healthcare environment highly preferred with additional experience in a post-secondary student-focused environment an asset.    
-Demonstrated experience and understanding of the clinician/provider experience in the use of a health information systems/electronic medical record such as Accuro.
-Demonstrated experience in leadership such as leading teams in change initiatives, leading complex and multi-stakeholder projects, from design to execution, inclusive of evaluation and reporting with measurable results.  Specific experience with EMR optimization projects an asset.
-Demonstrated experience working in a primary care/out-patient/Mental Health service delivery system; familiarity with evidence-based practice models used in healthcare.
-A comprehensive understanding of quality improvement approaches, models and operational requirements that support healthcare service delivery and optimization.
-Experience in the preparation of proposals for government an asset.
 
Skills:
-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in the context of project initiatives within a complex university environment
-Experience and understanding of evidence based, patient centered, clinical models of care and interprofessional models of collaboration. 
-Demonstrated skills and understanding of an electronic medical record’s functionality from data entry to reporting.
-Familiarity with relevant healthcare legislation, regulatory requirements, University governance, policies and procedures that inform the work of the Student Mental Health Team 
-Advanced computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite of applications inclusive of Excel, Business Intelligence, SharePoint, Teams is required.   Additional familiarity with other applications such as Canva, Redcap will be an asset.
-Strong relationship, people management, interpersonal and supervisory skills in the context of an in-person and virtual model
-Excellent ability to exercise judgement and seek consultation when dealing with ambiguity or novel circumstances, comfortable working in a high accountability environment.
-Ability to work in a complex, collaborative, and consultative environment that requires the continuous integration of feedback and adjustment of workplans. 
-Excellent writing, editing, communication skills that can adapt to a broad range of stakeholders including leadership, clinical and non-clinical staff; excellent organizational, time management skills.
-Demonstrated ability to use strategic and integrative thinking skills to anticipate risks, gaps and issues that may arise in a workplan.  Ability to work in a complex deadline driven environment.
-Demonstrated track record of working with diverse communities and valuing equity, diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
 
This is a full-time continuing position that must attend meetings at all three sites of the University.  
The role is hybrid with the primary office location at 800 Bay St.    
Flexible scheduling is required given the need to attend all sites and work with community partners.
