What is the Opportunity?
The Director of Digital Product, Insurance eApplications at RBC Insurance plays a pivotal role for the organization as we re-imagine the client journey of applying for insurance and emerge as an organization on the forefront of innovation and human-centered design. In this role, you will be responsible for creating the product vision/strategy, and for leading agile teams to develop and deliver exceptional digital user experiences.
What will you do?
Develop and design and refine a comprehensive and industry leading eApplication Experience, strategy/vision and product which enables our users to digitally interact with RBC Insurance, ensuring alignment with our business goals and user needs.
Effectively convey/communicate the product vision to the scrum teams, all stakeholders, and interested parties
Collaborate and liaise with key business partners and stakeholders in Underwriting, Sales, Digital Marketing, Operations, Finance, etc., to develop business cases and OKRs.
Create/maintain and oversee program backlog and associated release roadmap(s) while articulating how features/functionality are intended to be implemented, alignment to OKRs and associated benefits/business growth (revenue, profitability targets, etc.)
Identify opportunities for improvement/innovation and differentiation in our Digital Product design
Refine and prioritize the Program/Feature backlog, including non-functional requirements, on a regular basis in collaboration with the product owners such that it mitigates operational/technical/financial risk, accelerates team learning, achieves expected outcomes and optimizes the value of the work performed
Develop consistent metrics for a group of products and their rationale for measuring success of the solutions (e.g. ROI), as well as the reporting methodology to track value realization.
Evaluate business value achieved versus plan for the product and communicating outcomes to leadership & stakeholders
Participate/assist with the decision-making that sets the architectural direction/chooses the agreed technology infrastructure that will host the new business functionality for products and product platforms
Lead, manage, and develop a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment that empowers team members to excel and grow
What will you need to succeed?
Must-Have
3+ years of experience as a Product Manager/Owner working in an agile environment representing the voice of the customer and building the right products
2+ years of working on re-imagining inititiaves, eApplications or an underwriting background.
8+ years of relevant progressive business experience preferably within the financial services industry or preferably insurance industry.
3+ years of working on highly complex initiatives
Strong communication and thought leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
Nice to Have
Expertise in life and living benefits underwriting and in human-centered design methodologies, agile development and user research
Undergraduate Degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience. MA or MBA in related field preferred
