Position Summary


As a versatile leader with a track record of successfully initiating and implementing complex organizational

  • In this senior leadership position, as Director, eHealth and Virtual Health Innovation you will be responsible for expanding and continually improving upon FNHA’s eHealth and virtual care services, to ensure alignment with the priorities of First Nations communities and their leadership.
  • You will provide strategic direction and leadership in virtual care development and implementation within First Nations Led Primary Care Initiatives and the First Nations Electronic Medical Record (EMR) project supporting integrated team based primary health care. You will also provide thought leadership and advanced service design skills to the work of implementing the FNHA Primary Care and eHealth Strategic Framework and three year road map.

Note: As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Responsibilities


As Director, eHealth and Virtual Health Innovation, you will:

  • Develop new eHealth technology standards and develop and implement an eHealth, and virtual primary care plan and road map;
  • Oversee FNHA’s telehealth site support, including expansion of telehealth access to the other First Nations communities;
  • Align eHealth technology implementation with First Nations led primary care initiatives;
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Primary Care Operations & Planning to design and launch new virtual primary care services operated through FNHA;
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team to effective collaboration in identifying service gaps and priorities and create work programs for co-creating new service pathways based on First Nations priorities;
  • Provide strategic leadership in the design and implementation of community engagement for eHealth and virtual primary care service innovation;
  • Lead the development of provider teams responsible for implementing new virtual primary care services delivered by FNHA and/or First Nations communities;
  • Lead the design and coordinates the integration of virtual services (e.g., First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day) with in-community primary care services (e.g., First Nations Primary Care Centres), partnering with the Director of Operations and Planning to ensure low barrier direct access and continuity of care;
  • Provide strategic advisory services to FNHA regional and executive teams on best practices in designing, delivering and evaluating virtual primary care and eHealth services, including advanced thought leadership in the design and delivery of integrated and virtual care environments;
  • Lead the development of an FNHA EMR strategy to support the FNPCI, Joint Project Board (JPB) and First Nations engaged in Primary Care Networks, including building data frameworks for these tools and designing work flows on use of data;
  • Serve in a leadership role as a data steward, advising on data analysis and translating data into new virtual primary care and specialist service innovation initiatives;
  • Lead the development of inter-disciplinary teams and establish communities of practices among providers and liaising with the work of the FNHA Medical Affairs and Wellness Office;
  • Liaison with the regional health authority and other partners, working to establish pathways of integration between FNHA primary care services and regional health authority services, where appropriate;
  • Support the regional FNHA primary care teams to engage in discussion with Divisions of Family Practice and related Primary Care Network developers, and regional health authorities about virtual service integration;
  • Develop collaborative relationships with key external partners at local, regional and provincial levels, including Doctors of BC, RTVS and other key partners in pursuit of provincial FNHA primary care goals and directions;
  • Apply advanced working knowledge of planning concepts related to budgetary, staffing, quality and strategic initiatives;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


About YOU – The Qualifications and Skills You will Bring to FNHA
Education and Experience

  • You will have a Master’s Degree in a health related discipline and/or combination of education and training with a minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in advancing and managing innovation and change in primary care and eHealth services.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • You will have knowledge of key eHealth programs and initiatives such as Canada Health Infoway, the Pan- Canadian Public Health Surveillance System (Panorama), electronic health records and medical records;
  • You will have expert knowledge of telehealth, telemedicine, and virtual heath technologies and practices;
  • You will have knowledge of current agreements, treaties and programs delivered to First Nation in British Columbia;
  • You will have knowledge of the mandate, policies, programs and activities of relevant federal/provincial organizations and agencies to create, promote, maintain effective partnerships, including the related legislation, regulations, policies and standards, particularly as relevant to privacy and security of data and information;
  • You will have knowledge of project management best practices including waterfall and agile/scrum methodologies;
  • You will also have knowledge of Internet Communication Technology (ICT) and information management, including system design, interoperability standards, connectivity, hardware, application software, data communications and knowledge of business process re-engineering.
