Director, Enterprise Efficiency

Job Description

  • Accountable for leading a team of Engagement Managers and for the leadership and delivery of assigned business advisory activities as outlined below.
  • Leads team to complete deep dive business/function reviews, including completing a thorough analysis of your assigned business/function’s cost base and providing strategic direction to advise the business/function on decisions based on key findings.
  • Leads and supports team in planning and executing assigned business advisory activities and efficiency initiatives to embed and sustain our productivity program across the Bank.
  • Becomes a trusted productivity advisor to colleagues and senior business partners by providing strategic advice, influencing a productivity and efficiency mindset and driving ‘a new way of working’ across the enterprise.
  • Business advisory accountabilities include partner relationship management, productivity and thought leadership, idea generation for new opportunities, and collaborating with Enterprise Efficiency Directors to scope, connect and optimize enterprise wide efficiency initiatives. 
  • Supports the design and development of GE/OC/Board presentations.
  • Provide strategic insights into new business opportunities working with senior leaders in the business to manage assigned efficiency opportunity development to support and mature enterprise opportunity pipeline.
  • Builds relationship and works closely with Performance Management Finance partners to ensure alignment between enterprise efficiency work and finance planning cycles and processes and guides Enterprise Efficiency members in the gathering, interpretation, analysis and integration of finance information and data into efficiency initiatives.
  • Effectively organizes and executes assigned business advisory activities, structures team/work sessions, manages risk, ensures work is of highest quality and deliverables are achieved as planned. 
  • Recognizes business complexity and help facilitate trade-off decisions to prioritize appropriate actions to achieve productivity and efficiency objectives.
  • Demonstrates techniques to build consensus with differing views in a constructive manner and if applicable, applying appropriate escalation practices.
  • Plays back work completed and the outcomes effectively to executive audiences, using proper business, financial and functions language.
  • Raise risks/issues and provide solutions to minimize their impact on work stream timelines.
  • Openly share learnings and success drivers across the Enterprise Efficiency Team and the Enterprise, to support the establishment of sustainable processes and behaviours for productivity and efficiency.

Nice-to-have:

  • Strategy or consulting experience in a Consulting Management, Financial Services, or Entrepreneurial environment, or other comparative experience
  • Post-graduate degree - MBA/EMBA, Masters in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a similar field
  • CPA/CMA, CA, CFA or any other finance/risk accreditations
  • Experience in a Finance Performance Management and/or Cost Efficiency function

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join RBC’s Enterprise Efficiency Team within CAO, which is responsible for driving and integrating our strategic efficiency efforts across businesses and functions. The mandate of the Enterprise Efficiency team is enable sustainability of our enterprise productivity and efficiency program by enhancing cost transparency, focusing on productivity improvement and by introducing new ways of identifying efficiencies to enable continuous investment in future growth. This new way of working ensures we are creating value for RBC, our clients, our employees and our shareholders.

In this role, you will build strong business relationships across the Bank and lead a team of Engagement Managers in delivering transformational and sustained change through business advisory activities of varying scope, scale, and complexity. You will advise and support our business and functional partners in identifying and maturing business opportunities to embed a stronger productivity and growth mindset and enable program sustainability across the enterprise. Our end-to-end business review approach, sustainability initiatives and advisory work will allow you to gain a deep and unique understanding of the business and/or function you will be focused on, at an accelerated pace.
