JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director, Human Resources, as a senior leader, is responsible for supervision of a team of Human Resource Managers and staff. Develops, implements, and maintains a Human Resource information system for 700 employees. In a unionized environment, coordinates recruitment, including orientation program for new employees; maintains and develops health and safety program, including WSIB administration; administration of salary/benefit, and payroll, labour relations and Human Resources policies and procedures. Coordinates and develops an agency-wide staff training and development program. The incumbent will represent the Agency on community committees, liaise with external agencies and professionals and ensure the agency policies and procedures are followed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Post secondary graduation with a four (4) year University degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on human resource management and industrial relations.
Experience: Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in Human Resources with an emphasis in managing employees, recruitment, working in a unionized environment, labour relations, WSIB and health and safety, benefits and payroll. Good working knowledge of relevant employment legislation.
Special Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Familiarity with and ability to interpret and apply employment legislation which includes, but is not limited to, the Ontario Labour Relations Act, Workplace Safety Insurance Board, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, Pay Equity Act, Human Rights Code, Employment Equity Act.
