What is the opportunity?
The US Cash Management (USCM) Technology team is undertaking a green field project to build a brand-new system to serve corporate clients. In this role, you will be heavily involved in shaping the future technology landscape of RBC, by delivering key business values for a transformational project in our Banking Technology group. This position will be responsible for oversight and direct management for all aspects of USCM Business Administration and Strategic Initiatives that support business objectives of the USCM Tech Leadership.
What will you do?
The Director, Business Management is a key role that will assist in delivering on critical capabilities in support of the USCM vision and mission in the areas of:
Business Management Planning, Delivery and Execution
- Oversee all matters pertaining to the support and needs of the COO and USCM Tech leadership. Manage internal and external commitments of respective COO and USCM leaders
- Assess inquiries directed to USCM COO deliverables, determines the proper course of action and delegates to the appropriate individual to manage
- Works with leadership team to manage the planning process, ensuring coordination with corporate planning processes as well as planning integration across the broader organization. Drives the architecting, developing, and executing the rhythm of business (ROB).
- Manages and facilitates USCM Tech leadership’s executive narration and reporting for performance, progress and accomplishments to both internal and external stakeholders
- Measures and reports key performance indicators (KPIs/KRIs) in alignment with strategy to help leadership streamline business strategy. Works with the organization to establish and report against targets and adjusts targets if necessary.
- Leads creation, ownership and supports execution of business and communication plans, to ensure continuation of business operations, including in adverse conditions, in accordance with corporate governance. Ensures checks and balances are in place for the team to ensure USCM’s best interest with regards to strategic partnerships necessary for continuity of business.
- Ensure all operational issues are addressed properly, efficiently, and judiciously, and keeps track of progress until resolved
- Leverages knowledge of the leader's goals and business approach to ensure business activities are aligned with the leadership's objectives. Supports the leadership in one or more key business management areas (e.g., setting key goals, priorities, and definitions; team culture and health; communications; industry/specific business knowledge).
Organizational Engagement and Communication
- Facilitating the team to drive maturity and adoption of the USCM culture, monitors team/organization engagement and supports leadership in responding to team culture issues, as well as leading culture initiatives (e.g., Diversity and Inclusion [D&I], hiring, onboarding) while partnering with Human Resources to do so.
- Manages the workspace vision and model, to enable effective working environments conducive to the USCM culture.
- Support execution of the USCM strategy, incorporating change management and enablement practices
- Manage the flow of information and communication between teams both within USCM and to broader stakeholder groups
Organizational Events and Initiatives
- Manage leadership meetings and other meetings on behalf of the COO (e.g., Town Halls, Road Shows and Off-sites)
- Work with leaders across USCM, T&O and stakeholder leadership teams to ensure effective staff participation on events and other key initiatives
- Lead the coordination of presentation materials for events
- Drives cross-team initiatives and events as needed to meet the changing business environment and manage complex business needs. Leverages project management to ensure organization-wide implementation of strategic efforts that require hands-on coordination across multiple functional disciplines and business organizations
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science)
- 10+ years’ experience in business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
- Extensive experience in creating process and governance for a large department.
- Ability to direct a large scope of influence in place of a large scope of control.
- Experience with Microsoft Office
