Early Childhood Assistant

Mill Valley Child Care Centre is looking an assistant for a maternity leave. The position starts in June of 2024 from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications:

• ECA: Previous experience with young children in a group setting
• Knowledge of CCEYA, 2014, Early Learning Framework, How Does Learning Happen? and Emergent/Inquiry-based program, an asset.
• Experience with the Toronto Children's Services Early Learning and Care Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI), an asset
• Recent (within 6 months) Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Physically able to participate in program with children inside and outside the classroom.
• Sensitive and inclusive to the children and families’ needs.
• Able to work well within a team environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with children, parents and staff
• Flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
• Exhibit a genuine, nurturing, and caring attitude in the classroom.
• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
• Well-developed problem-solving, conflict resolution skills and good judgement
• Self-directed with proven commitment to contribute to the team
• Inclusive and sensitive to the children’s and families’ needs
• Exhibit a genuine, nurturing, and caring attitude in the classroom
• Guide children's behaviour in a positive manner and at a level that is appropriate to their actions and their ages in order to promote self discipline, ensure health and safety and respect the right of others
• Ensure that all facilities, supplies and equipment are kept clean, safe and free of hazards
• Set up and put away all equipment used during the course of the program, keeping everything tidy
• Follow cleaning guidelines
• Assist in children's toileting needs

Qualifications

• Clear Criminal Reference check
• Up-to-date Medical and Immunization
• Up-to-date Standard First Aid & CPR AED +C

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Salary: $18.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
