Role: Provides a welcoming Early Years, parent/tot participation program, which helps
promote healthy early childhood development and parent/child bonding.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Facilitates and supports other program leads in implementing and setting up developmentally appropriate activities for children (0-5 and their families)
· Identifies and supports program participants who are having challenges and work with them on useful skills through modeling, mentoring, teachable moments and supportive conversations
· Maintains awareness of participant feedback and collaborating with facilitator on implementation in practice/programs
· Ensures that the program environments are clean, safe, suitable, caring, respectful and inclusive and collaborating with staff and program participants to accomplish this
· Ensures maintenance and tabulation of attendance and statistics regarding Early Years Programs
· Is familiar with and implements QVCC’s policies, procedures and practices
· Responds to general inquiries regarding QVCC and shares in the work of operating and maintaining an inclusive, functional community centre
· Is familiar with and implements QVCC’s policies, procedures, and practices
· Performs other related duties when required and approved by the Child & Family Programs Coordinator and/or Executive Director
Qualifications:
· Committed to an anti-oppressive, decolonial, and anti-racist practice
· High School graduate, related workshops/trainings, and/or practicum/volunteer
· Preference to candidates with experience working with a diverse population of child and family cultures in a community centre setting
· Clear Criminal Record Check is required.
· Emergency First Aid and Food Safe is an asset
Hours of Work:
· 6 hours a week minimum
· Typical shifts are scheduled Monday, Wednesday, Thursdays, and/or Fridays 9:30-12:30, dependent on contract
· Additional hours, times, or days may be required dependent on agency needs and events
Benefits and Remuneration:
· $19.00 per hour (increases with tenure at QVCC)
· 6% Vacation
